报告简介:

This talk presents our recent research on developing the scaled boundary finite element method to benefit from the opportunities provided by modern digital computers and other digital technologies to engineering analysis. The scaled boundary finite element method is re-examined from the viewpoint of a general-purpose numerical method. Mesh generation using the quadtree/octree algorithm is incorporated as an integral part of the development of the numerical method. Parallel computing algorithms are purposedly designed to benefit from the structured octree patterns.  Furthermore, the proposed approach greatly reduces the amount of memory and memory access required for simulating large-scale problems and thus leads high parallel efficiency. Numerical examples are shown to demonstrate some of the attractive features of the proposed approach in engineering analysis.

 

报告人简介:

Dr. Chongmin Song is a Professor of Civil Engineering and Director of the Centre for Infrastructure Safety and Engineering, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He obtained the degree of Bachelor of Engineering from Tsinghua University, China and the degree of Doctor of Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan. His current research interests are on the development of advanced numerical methods and their engineering applications. He is one of the two original creators of the scaled boundary finite element method.
