In this talk, our recent developments vis-à-vis the simulation of cohesive and ductile fractures using the SBFEM will be presented. Focus will be on isotropic and orthotropic domains that naturally arise when simulating the damage response of long fibre-reinforced composites. Within this setting, the main traits and bottlenecks of polynomial interpolations within the polygonal element are examined as a means to derived well behaved post-failure solutions. An alternative is also examined where the phase field is averaged over each scaled element. The proposed method is developed for the most general case of polygonal element topologies with quad-tree decompositions being a subcase.
报告人简介:
Dr. Savvas Triantafyllou is an Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Prior to NTUA he was an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham. He obtained the degree of MEng NTUA and his PhD on Computational Methods from the same University. His current research interests are on the development of advanced numerical methods and their engineering applications with a particular focus on the development of fractures in composite and in general heterogenous domains.
